What Is a Femboy?

A femboy is a slang term for a man who is more feminine or has traditionally feminine mannerisms, style, and interests. The term describes a gender expression, not a sexual orientation. Think of “femboy” as an aesthetic. Although the term is sometimes used to describe those in the LGBTQ+ community, it’s used to describe someone’s outward style rather than who they’re interested in.

Femboys have more stereotypically female-presenting expressions and styles. A femboy may wear makeup, have long hair, or wear skirts and dresses.

It’s important to note that “femboy” can also be a derogatory term, specifically for transgender women. Calling a transgender woman a “femboy” can be very offensive and destructive, so always think before you speak.
