Woodland Mansions are a dungeon-like structure found in the Dark Forest or Pale Garden biome. These buildings are filled with evokers, vindicators, and allays, and it's one of the few places you can get a totem of undying. In this article, we'll go over all the ways you can find a Woodland Mansion in Minecraft. Keep reading to learn how.

4 Ways to Find a Woodland Mansion: Quick Overview

  • Buy a Woodland Explorer Map from a master-level Cartographer villager, then follow it to the Woodland Mansion.
  • Use a cheat to find the nearest Woodland Mansion, then walk or teleport there.
  • Use Chunkbase to find all the Woodland Mansions in your world, then walk or teleport to one.
  • Explore the map until you find a Woodland Mansion in a Dark Forest or Pale Garden biome.

Using a Woodland Explorer Map

  1. These are the only Cartographer villagers that sell Woodland Explorer Maps. Lower-level Cartographer villagers sell other maps (such as the Ocean Explorer Map and Trial Explorer Map).
    • Cartographer villagers will spawn at a Cartography Table.[1] Cartography Tables spawn naturally inside cartographer houses in Villages.[2]
  2. If you find a master-level Cartographer, they will sell Woodland Explorer Maps for 14 Emeralds and 1 Compass.
    • Compasses can be crafted with four Iron Ingots and one Redstone Dust.[3]
    • They can also be looted from chests in an Ancient City, map chests in a Shipwreck, library chests in a Stronghold, intersection barrels in a Trial Chamber, or cartographer's chests in a Village.[4]
    • There's a chance a Librarian villager will sell a Compass for 4 Emeralds.[5]

  3. Pull the map out from your inventory and look at it. You'll want to start heading in the direction of the small icon on the map. This icon represents a Woodland Mansion.[6]
    • This may not be the closest Woodland Mansion to your location, but the map does give you a guaranteed Woodland Map location to find.
    • If the icon on the map looks small, that means you're really far away. Once you get within 1,027 blocks, the icon will return to the standard map icon size.
    • Once you're within the 512x512 square that the map represents, it will begin to fill out like a normal map. Once you see this, you know you're getting close.

Using a Cheat

  1. If you don't feel like looking around for a Woodland Mansion yourself or using a map, you can use a cheat to locate the nearest one. Simply type /locate structure mansion to get the coordinates.[7] Note: You must be playing on a server that allows cheats. If your current game doesn't allow cheats, you won't be able to use this method.
    • Open the console by pressing T or /. Using the forward-slash button will auto-fill a forward slash into the console, which can save you a little time when writing your cheat command. Then type the cheat command and press Enter or Return.
    • If you want to teleport directly to the Woodland Mansion, you can do so with another cheat. Run the cheat /tp X Y Z, where X is the X coordinate of the Woodland Mansion, Y is the Y coordinate, and Z is the Z coordinate.

Using Chunkbase

  1. Chunkbase, a popular site for Minecraft tutorials, mods, and more, has a Woodland Mansion Finder tool that will locate all of the Woodland Mansions in your world.
  2. If you don't know how to get your Minecraft world seed, simply type /seed into the chat console on Java edition. You must have permission to use commands in the server to get the seed in this way.
    • If you don't want to get the seed of your server (or you can't, due to server permissions), you can also load your seed from a save file. Simply click the Load from Save… button and select the level.dat file for your game (which is a small file located in the folder for your Minecraft saved game).
    • If you're not attached to your current world (or you don't have a world started yet), you can also press the Random button to put a random seed into the Woodland Mansion Finder. If you find a seed that looks good, you can load that seed into a new Minecraft world.
  3. Make sure to select the correct version for either your Java or Bedrock Edition game.
  4. The dots on the map are all Woodland Mansion locations. Hover over a nearby dot, and the coordinates to the Woodland Mansion will be under the map.
    • Lining up your mouse to get the coordinates can be tricky, so zoom all the way in if you're not able to find the coordinates to the Woodland Mansion.
  5. If you prefer not to use cheat codes, you can manually navigate in your Minecraft game to the coordinates provided by Chunkbase. Otherwise, type /tp X Y Z, where X is the X coordinate of the Woodland Mansion, Y is the Y coordinate, and Z is the Z coordinate.

Exploring

  1. Woodland Mansions are typically found a long way away from your world spawn point, so exploring is the least efficient way to look for one. However, if you don't want to use cheats and you don't have a Woodland Explorer Map, this is the only way to find a Woodland Mansion.
    • Woodland Mansions typically can only spawn every 10,000 to 20,000 blocks, though some seeds allow for them to spawn closer (though this is very rare).[8]
    • Woodland Mansions are found in the Dark Forest and Pale Garden biomes.
      • Dark Forest biomes typically generate next to Birch Forests, Old Growth Taigas, or Jungles. They typically are generated in areas with high humidity.[9]
      • Pale Garden biomes typically generate inside Dark Forest biomes.[10]
