The best way to tell if school will be canceled is to check your school’s website, which is normally the first place the news will be posted. If your school announces key information on a specific web portal or student platform (like an LMS or Google Classroom), they’ll likely post news about a closure there, too. Many schools often send emails to students and parents regarding school closures, as well.

For weather-related closures, you can often find the list of closed schools by watching your local news channel the night before school or the morning of. Local news channels typically list school closures in a scrolling banner while their regular programming plays. When in doubt, try contacting your school directly to simply ask whether there will be class or not.
