What would prevent me from finding someone as a friend?

Usually the reason why you can't find some users is because of their privacy settings. Some people disable friend requests or hide their profile from everyone except those who are friends with their friends. Blocking can also have something to do with it; if someone has blocked you, or you blocked them, you cannot search for their profile or add them as a friend.

Mutual friends are those are friends with each other. For example, Person 1, Person 2 and Person 3 are all friends together. That means none of your friends are friends with each other, the only way they are connected is through being friends with you.
