Community AnswerIt should sort your contacts alphabetically by default, but if you want to sort them by the first name instead of the last, you can do so by going to Settings and then to Contacts. Then there should be an option so change the sorting order. -

Community AnswerJust keep trying about every 5 or 10 minutes as your iPhone may not realise what you are pressing. Or, you could try turning your iPhone off and on again. Or, you could press last to first and try to trick it into saying first to last.
