To enter a punctuation mark, press the 1 key. Continue pressing until you see the punctuation mark you need.

Press and hold down the number you need, and it will appear.

Press the zero button. This should give you a space. Double tapping zero will finish a sentence with a period.

You are usually able to backspace by either pressing the clear or delete button. The button that you will need to press entirely depends on the make/model of the device that you are using. For example, my old flip phone had a "CLR" (clear) button at the top of the phone between the "Answer" & Hangup buttons. The device that you are using may be the same or be slightly different.
