I need help. How would you recommend dealing with a homophobic Christian father that already knows your LGBTQ+?
It sounds like there may be hurt and misunderstanding on both sides. Either the father handled the situation in a way that came across harshly, or it may have been perceived more negatively because emotions are already high. Disagreement doesn’t automatically mean hatred, but how we speak to each other really matters. Scripture calls parents to act with patience and gentleness (Ephesians 6:4) and also calls all of us to seek understanding rather than assume the worst (James 1:19). I hope both sides can communicate with love and clarity instead of fear or anger.

It’s true that God loves every person — Scripture makes that very clear (John 3:16). Jesus did spend time with people rejected by society, but He never affirmed sin; He called people to repentance and new life. In John 8:11, after showing mercy, Jesus told the woman, “Go, and sin no more.” The Bible teaches that love means speaking truth as well as showing compassion (Ephesians 4:15). God created us intentionally (Genesis 1:27), and following Christ means denying ourselves and trusting His design above our own understanding (Luke 9:23, Proverbs 3:5–6). Christians are called to love everyone deeply, but also to remain faithful to what Scripture teaches rather than reshaping it to fit culture.

I’m really sorry you’re going through that. No one deserves to be talked about or isolated like that. As Christians, we’re called to treat people with love and dignity, not spread rumors or push others away. Even when families or communities struggle with difficult topics, God still sees you and cares about you deeply.
