Fun Facts About Jujutsu Kaisen

  • Nobara Kugisaki learned her cursed technique from her grandmother. Before enrolling in Jujutsu High School, Kugisaki learned jujutsu from her grandmother, who was a sorcerer. Her grandmother also used the Straw Doll cursed technique, training her on how to use it. The two eventually began to butt heads because Nobara wanted to go to Tokyo, while her grandmother wanted her to stay in their hometown.
  • Mai Zenin’s first love was possibly Megumi Fushiguro. Although this isn’t addressed in the show, author Gege Akutami explained in the Jujutsu Kaisen Official Character Guide that her first love was “probably Fushiguro. Runner-up is a stranger. Maki is the dark horse.” Maki being the dark horse is also fitting, as she’s the one Mai ended up sacrificing herself for.
  • Yuki Tsukumo gave Todo Aoi his scar. When Todo was young, he met Yuki, who soon became his trainer and mentor. While she’s responsible for turning him into a powerful sorcerer, she’s also responsible for giving him his scar during an intense training session, serving as a permanent reminder of her influence on him.
  • Mei Mei is incredibly rich. She’s the rare case of a jujutsu sorcerer who works independently, meaning she can be hired by anyone as long as they pay the right price. This has inflated her bank account to incredible numbers, with one scene early in the show confirming that she’s received money transfers equating to 38,200,000 Yen (and that was just her recent transactions)! Author Gege Akutami has even confirmed that her favorite hobby is counting money.
