Did you see someone use a Discord emoji that you really liked, but you didn't have it? If so, you may wonder if it's possible to save Discord emojis from the server to your computer. Thankfully, the answer is yes—and saving Discord emojis to your PC is extremely easy. In this article, we'll go over three ways you can save Discord emojis. Read on to learn how.

Ways to Save Discord Emojis

  • Right-click the emoji and click Open Link, then right-click the image in your browser and click Save image as.
  • Use an online tool to extract an emoji using its emoji ID, then save it as a .png, .jpg, or .gif.
  • Use a bot like Carl-bot to "steal" an emoji and add it to your own server.

Method 1 of 3:

Saving the Emoji Image

  1. If you're on a Mac, you may need to hold Ctrl and click to open the right-click menu.
  2. It's near the bottom of the right-click menu. This will open the emoji image in your browser.

  3. To do this, right-click on the image (or Ctrl+click on Mac) and click Save image as.
    • The emoji image will likely open as a .webp file. If you want to save the emoji so you can re-upload it to a different Discord server, this is fine, as Discord accepts .webp files for emojis. However, if you want to use the image for something else, you may need to convert it after you download it using a site like CloudConvert.

Using an Online Tool

  1. This method only works if the emoji you want to save is in a server that you're also in. Here's how you get the emoji ID:[1]
    • Type the emoji into a new message, but don't send it yet. For example, if the emoji's name were "sadcat," you'd type :sadcat: in a message and let the code turn into the emoji picture.
    • Place your cursor in front of the emoji and type a **. You will see the emoji image turn back into text.
    • Send the message. The message will have a string of numbers in it—that's the emoji ID. Highlight just the numbers (not any of the letters or symbols) and copy them.
  2. We'll be using this Discord Emoji Extractor. Other online tools may work similarly, but for the best results, use the tool linked in this step.
  3. In the middle of the screen, you'll see a field that says "Emoji ID" next to it. Paste the ID in this field.
  4. You can choose between .png, .jpg, and .gif. If you have an animated emoji, make sure to choose .gif.
  5. The tool will grab the emoji from Discord and display it at the bottom of the screen. To save the image, right-click it (or Ctrl+click on Mac) and then choose Save image as.

Method 3 of 3:

Using a Bot

  1. The most popular bot that can do this is Carl-bot. The steps for this section will be how to use Carl-bot to steal emojis, but you can likely apply these steps to other bots (though the commands will be different).
    • Go to carl.gg and add Carl-bot to your server to get started.[2]
    • This method won't save the Discord emoji to your PC's downloads folder, but it will "save" them to your own server so you can use them yourself.
  2. The emoji doesn't have to be in the server you're stealing it from, nor does it even have to be a previous Discord emoji. As long as the image isn't too large, you can use Carl-bot to automatically add the emoji for you.
  3. The command is ?steal [emoji name] [image link]. Make sure the emoji name is one word with no spaces. You can use letters, numbers, and underscores in the emoji name.
  4. As long as the image isn't too large, there are no unallowed characters in the emoji name, and your server's emoji slots aren't full, Carl-bot should add the emoji to your server.
