Fear is an essential part of what it means to be human. We evolved the ability to sense fear as a survival mechanism—you see something scary, you naturally avoid it. So, we associate dangerous things with being scary! But we don’t really need to be on the lookout for sabertooth tigers anymore, which means we have all of these hardwired instincts to be scared of stuff, but not a lot of legit places to put them.
