  1. Divine Dogs are a set of powerful black and white dogs that can sniff out the scent of anyone their master wishes, and attack whenever needed. To summon them, stretch your left arm out in front of you, raise your thumb, and spread your fingers at the middle like the 🖖 emoji. Then, cup the gap between your thumb and index finger with your right hand, raising your thumb as you do.
    • Once one dog is killed, it cannot be revived. But, its essence and power are granted to the other dog, giving it a werewolf-like appearance and incredible speed and strength.
    • All Ten Shadows Technique users inherit the Divine Dogs with their technique.
    • The hand signs used to summon the Ten Shadows shikigami resemble those used to make their shadow puppets. For example, Divine Dogs’ hand sign resembles the hand sign for dog shadow puppets.
  2. Nue is a winged bird-shikigami that can travel great distances and shock enemies with its electro-shock wings. To summon Nue, face your palms toward your body, curling them as you do. Then, interlock your right thumb with your left thumb so that your right hand is on the left side of your body and vice versa.[1]
    • Megumi often combines Nue’s electro-shock wings with Max Elephant’s water to give enemies a quick jolt.

  3. Max Elephant is a giant elephant shikigami that can shoot massive spouts of water out of its trunk. To summon Max Elephant, stretch your left hand in front of you with your palm facing down, then curl your two middle fingers downward. Place your right hand on top of your left hand to complete.[2]
    • Max Elephant is one of Megumi’s most used shikigami, aside from Divine Dog and Nue. He often uses its sheer weight to crush enemies, but has also strategically used the water to catch enemies off guard.
  4. Toad is a huge toad shikigami with a long, strong tongue that Megumi uses to grab people and move them through the air. To summon the Toad shikigami, position your palms in front of your chest and face them away from you as you bring your fingers and thumbs together to form an open triangle. Then, curl your pinky fingers on top of your third fingers.[3]
  5. Great Serpent is a gigantic snake shikigami that is often used to ensnare an enemy. It can also spit out deadly venom with its fangs. To summon the Great Serpent shikigami, bring your hand out in front of you, stretch your fingers, and curl your index finger on top of your middle finger. Then, face your hand in the direction you want to send the Great Serpent.[4]
  6. Rabbit Escape, also known as Fleeing Hares, allows Megumi to summon an army of rabbits to distract and attack his enemy. To summon Rabbit Escape, curl your right hand downward with open fingers, keeping your thumb straight. Then, curl your left hand upward with open fingers. Finally, interlock your left and right index fingers and bring them both up.[5]
    • Megumi often uses Rabbit Escape as a way of catching his enemies off guard, like when he battled his father during the Shibuya incident.
  7. Piercing Ox is an ox shikigami that damages opponents by charging at them and ramming into them. To summon it, ball your right fist and put it in front of you. Then, curl all fingers on your left but your index and thumb, curling those upward and bringing the hand on top of your right one.[6]
    • Although it can only move in a straight line, Piercing Ox gains power and momentum the further it travels, making it so that vast distances result in vast damage.
  8. Round Deer is a giant deer shikigami who heals the user with the Reverse Cursed Technique (basically multiplying negative cursed energy by itself to create positive energy that heals wounds). To summon it, bring your hands together and curl the left one on top of the right one to resemble the shadow puppet of a deer.[7]
    • Round Deer’s positive cursed energy is so strong that it can cause sorcerers to lose control of their cursed tools (tools amplified by cursed energy).
  9. Formally known as the Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga, this is the most powerful shikigami granted to users of the Ten Shadows Technique. To summon him, ball your hands into fists and hold them out in front of you. Hold your left fist higher and face the knuckles on your right fist towards the ground, raise your left fist in front of your face, and bring your right fist close to your chest, crossing your arms. Then, bring your arms back down to your sides.[8]
    • Summoning Mahoraga activates the subjugation ritual, which locks the summoner and others in the vicinity into battle with him.
    • Ten Shadows Technique users have used the subjugation ritual to force opponents into fighting Mahoraga, but only Sukuna has ever defeated him.

What is the Ten Shadows Technique?

PDF download Download Article
  1. The ten shikigami (monstrous spirit servants) granted to the user through the Ten Shadows Technique are summoned through shadows, which give the technique its name. These shikigami, once subjugated by the summoner in a battle ritual, are at the service of the summoner, granting them immense power and battle advantages.[9]
    • The shikigami granted by the Ten Shadows Technique include:
      • Divine Dogs
      • Nue
      • Toad
      • Great Serpent
      • Max Elephant
      • Piercing Ox
      • Round Deer
      • Rabbit Escape
      • Tiger Funeral
        • There isn’t much known about this shikigami, as it’s never been summoned by itself
      • Mahoraga
    • The Ten Shadows Technique is exclusive to the Zenin clan, although it has been wielded by Ryomen Sukuna (who had Megumi’s body).
    • The shikigami granted by the Ten Shadows Technique can be fused. Nue and Toad can be fused into Well’s Unknown Abyss, which are weaker, winged toads.
    • Nue was also fused with Great Serpent, Tiger Funeral, and Round Deer to form the powerful Merged Beast Agito during Sukuna’s battle against Gojo.
  2. Chimera Shadow Garden allows the user to flood an area with liquid shadows. They can travel through these shadows, use them to summon shikigami, trap their opponents, and keep items in them for later use. Megumi Fushiguro is the only known user of the Chimera Shadow Garden Domain Expansion, although his version was incomplete and required an enclosed area to be properly utilized.[10]

Ten Shadows Technique Users

  1. Megumi Fushiguro is the main user of the Ten Shadows Technique, which he inherited from his familial connection to the Zenin clan. His use of the technique is noted by many, from the Zenin clan, who went as far as to appoint him as their leader due to his possession of the technique, to Ryomen Sukuna, who targeted him throughout the story and took control of his body to gain access to Ten Shadows.[13]
  2. From the moment Ryomen Sukuna was introduced to the story, he targeted Megumi Fushiguro because of his Ten Shadows Technique. After he regained his strength inside of Yuji Itadori, Sukuna waited for an opportunity to possess Megumi, and once he did, he was granted access to the technique, which was amplified due to his immense cursed energy.[14]
    • His prowess with the technique far surpassed Megumi’s, with his manifestations of shikigami like Nue and Max Elephant being much more powerful than Megumi’s.
  3. Although there isn’t much known about the former Zenin clan head, Satoru Gojo once mentioned to Megumi that the heads of their respective clans battled to the death in the past. The Zenin clan head was a user of the Ten Shadows Technique, while the Gojo clan head was a user of the Limitless and Six Eyes techniques.

Other Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Techniques

PDF download Download Article
  1. Native to the Inumaki clan, Cursed Speech allows wielders to command anyone to do anything they say simply by saying it. It is so effective that Toge Inumaki has to limit his speech to rice ball ingredients. Its effectiveness also comes with drawbacks, as stronger, more lethal commands inflict residual damage on users.[15]
  2. The Limitless technique is native to the Gojo clan and is considered one of the strongest in the series. Wielded by Satoru Gojo, the technique allows him to manipulate cursed energy and space. With this manipulation, Gojo can create an infinite gap between himself and anyone around him, attract and repel enemies at will, and even teleport.[16]
  3. This one is Yuta Okkotsu’s technique. Copy gives Okkotsu the ability to copy any technique he comes across, as long as his shikigami Rika consumes a piece of the wielder’s body. He keeps their abilities stored within Rika, granting him access to a wide array of techniques that make him one of the most dynamic characters in the series.[17]
  4. Projection Sorcery is a powerful, unique technique possessed by the Zenin clan. Wielded by Naoya and Naobito Zenin, Projection Sorcery lets them use the rules of animation to their advantage. The technique breaks one second down into 24 frames, and if opponents don’t follow the wielder’s exact movements within those 24 frames, they are frozen in place.[18]
    • This makes for a teleportation-like effect that allows them to catch opponents off guard and quickly dominate them.
